The median of a group of scores is the "middle score." It is a measure of central tendency. It has the advantage that the presence of outliers or extreme scores do not affect the median as much as the mean, another measure of central tendency.

The procedure for finding the median is quite simple. List all of your scores in order from lowest to highest. The middle score is the median. If there are an even number of scores, it is the average of the middle two scores.
